Throwing Cylinder shapes is a basic pottery technique on the wheel. What do you do with those tall shapes besides VASES? You can throw them or slab build them an add a rim, or you can just slab build them or coil build them to get height. Lots of ways to get tall cylinders.

For today they might be storage jars. These happen to be themed jars with horses and wine…..hummmm sounds good to me LOL.

A lot has been written about this glaze and recipe from what I read on the internet. I did a post while back about Linda Pahl’s test on this glaze she also goes by Closet potter. She had the recipe posted and a test tile as well but it suddenly disappeared off the web?

I like the subtle “purple” or violet hint in this glaze and so it has me thinking.
http://www.potters.org/subject49711.htm/ Alisa Clausen does A LOT of testing of glazes at cone ^6 firings, she is amazing. She credited this to Ian macMillian and said there is alot of talk about this glaze in clayart.
Frog pond had the recipe http://www.frogpondpottery.com/glazestability/glaze0008.html Diane Woloshyn leach tested this glaze for the Lithium.7.32 mg/l
JH seems to feel that even with the Lithium, doesn’t really matter since he doesn’t like the silica level and alumina levels. So he feels not recommend for functional work.
However my thought is what about adding BORON instead of Lithum to this glaze? Hummmmmm maybe?
