Well if I am going to have Salad Bowls why not Dinner and Salad plates? These are close to the same but not quiet. I don’t think I will ever get Dinner plates to be the “same” but this is darn close.

Now do most folks eat off Salad Plates or Salad Bowls? hummmm something to ponder?
I’d like to have a set of eight to go with the salad bowls but so far only a set of four do I have. Still enough time before July 19 so maybe?
TIP: How did I do that ? Follow the link . . .

Someone asked at the last show in Parker if I had any Salad bowls? Hummmm not really, more of soup bowls, chilli bowls, etc. She wanted something not so “rustic” hummm my style is kinda rustic?

Ok so I threw 8 little salad bowls ( or at least my version of them <G>) and one Large Salad bowl. I threw them in a more traditional shape, with some curves ( I like curves. . . .maybe because I have them now hehehe) and the traditional foot ring, not my flat style foot.
Yes, I can throw curve”y” bowls with foot rings…but why? I kinda like the flat smooth bottom with a rim for a foot. . . .HUMMMM.
Well Salad for eight….Anyone? what to glaze these with hummmmm. . .

I was recently inspired by Chris Campbell’s Work with Italian Villas for Garden’s .http://neriagechris.blogspot.com/2009/06/50-clay-50-re-cycled-glass-project.html Check out her web site! She uses 50% clay and 50% re cycled Glass in her Yard Art. She is AMAZING!

I have been working on Canisters in sets of 3 and thought about Chris’s Villas. I am working on making 3 Villas that you can store food in like flour, spaghetti, etc. They won’t have holes in the windows more functional.

I made a roller for the Brick texture and I didn’t want it to be even all the way around, more rustic and OLD WORLD.
I used the stair step from my ladder for the roof tile work texture. Anyway, I have 3 different villa’s in mine for these storage canisters. Hummmm the glaze maybe BRIGHT ITALIAN colors?

Oval Platter, w handles and a lace impressed design.

Some Ladles. I think I have a better flow with the handles?

My glasses were looked at during the shows but the 2 sets I have have not sold yet? Maybe a price point or maybe individuals would sell so I made a few pairs to sell and see if that helps?

My storage jars have sold each show ( total of 3 sets with a price point of 65.00 for the set). So I am making a few more, some square and some round for this next show.

When it’s all said and done, I like BIG BOWLS. So when I can just play on my wheel with clay and nothing is URGENT…I always fall back on BIG BOWLS. Love um……
When I attach the stem to the bowl my Bottom on the inside is more like a bowl. When I throw it all in one piece though, the bottom is on the bottom, not really smooth for a bowl shape. Hummmmmm something to ponder. . .

The largest stem bowl I have thrown in one piece is almost 14 inches, or just under. Ahh the challenge, can I throw a one piece stem and bowl 16 inches by 12 inches? Hummmmmm

I was working on odd shapes for this show and overlapping glazes.

I wanted an “earthy” palette of color and used bone and waterfall brown for these platters.

I added some cheese spreaders, candles, and box mixes to some pots for added value from the dollar store <G>.

My display is simple, folds down easy, and packs pottery as well as displays it.

Good show in spite the “windy” weather on Saturday. For about 4-6 hrs Artists were tying their tents to anything that wasn’t moving and we lost 2 artist’s and their tents. Not a lot of artists at this show, about maybe 20 or so but there are folks out and about buying!
I really enjoy the neighbors at Parker, and my pottery sells well there. I try and keep costs down and still sell a great product. Even with all the windy on Saturday, and cloudy cold conditions, I managed to sell enough pottery to make this show worth wild. I even have met a few new artists, one booth next to me that can recycle my pottery shards into pots, etc.Very helpful when a pot falls <G>

This artist is a landscaper from The Boulder Area and he makes his pots out of cement for Plants, etc. So my shards will still have a home in his pots.
Today is the farmers market and the SUN is shining! So hopefully a good day, however I have sold alot and need to make inventory for the next show. Seems like I might not have enough pottery today if there are a lot of folks out and about. YIKES!

Sneak PEEK <G>
Well it had to happen at some point. I have a learning curve still here with clay, glazes, and firing. I was tired getting ready for this next show and I thought my kiln was fine, I could leave for a few short hours and finish some work at the office. That was Mistake ONE.
Than I forgot how HOT my garage can get in the summer. We have had alot of rain this spring and beginning summer so I didn’t think much about it but when I got back, my garage was HOT mistake TWO.
When I found my kiln beeping it was at 1495F and flashing error. I thought maybe a power surge, outage, or maybe just TOO HOT in my garage. I promptly reprogrammed my original program and waiting….ALL NIGHT LONG.
At the soak (should have 2185 for 15 minutes) it was still climbing around 11PM so I opened the garage and it went down from 2191F at 9 minutes left into the soak. Steady at 2186F (better).
I only could sneak a peek at the top shelf (800F) and that looks good so at least my whole kiln firing is not ruined. I’ll let you know if lower in the kiln any pieces were fired too hot and running off my pots! WHEW!

I used my Randy’s red with bone ash and Blk licorice for an accent on the plate as well as the rim of these cruets. I wanted earth tones and thought this might make a cool glaze? Kind of rusty brown/blk?

I decided I awanted this casserole to have more color than just browns. I use a brown stoneware clay and slow fire both up and on the cooling side to cone 6 Oxidation.

I think it breaks well over texture and shows different colors black and now some blue.
