Sneak PEEK <G>

Well it had  to happen at some point.  I have a learning curve still here with clay, glazes, and firing.  I was tired getting ready for this next show and I thought my kiln was fine, I could leave for a few short hours and finish some work at the office.  That was Mistake ONE.

Than I forgot how HOT my garage can get in the summer.  We have had alot of rain this spring and beginning summer so I didn’t think much about it but when I got back, my garage was HOT mistake TWO.

When I found my kiln beeping it was at 1495F and flashing error.  I thought maybe a power surge, outage, or maybe just TOO HOT in my garage.  I promptly reprogrammed my original program and waiting….ALL NIGHT LONG.

At the soak (should have 2185 for 15 minutes) it was still climbing around 11PM so I opened the garage and it went down from 2191F at 9 minutes left into the soak.  Steady at 2186F (better).

I only could sneak a peek at the top shelf (800F) and that looks good so at least my whole kiln firing is not ruined.  I’ll let you know if lower in the kiln any pieces were fired too hot and running off my pots!  WHEW!
