Hey Sonja,
Give me one week and I will share my results on the Cone 6 RED Glaze. So far I have a really good Raspberry red but I am testing for a RED RED and can’t fire up the kiln until this week-end TOO COLD. I will share my results though no problem!
Hi Mary,
I found your page while looking for the origin of a “floating red” ^6 glaze that I’ve been using with some success. I would invite you to join the cone6pots.ning.com network and link to your own online materials.
Thanks,
George Lewter
I have a studio in my basement, cement floor and a large window (garden level). I wet mop and shop vac my area after every throwing session and hand building. I use buckets for water and recycle the clay in them on a flat plater board. In the summer I am in my garage and can hose everything down. In the house, winter time (6 months) I just am careful about how I throw, etc and my work isn’t near as much than, more fun or special orders. My inventory for Holidays is down in summer months to get ready. hope that helps, oh and I take clothes off in room and shoes, no tracking around the house.

Thanks Donna! Blogging is like a map of my journey with clay, fun to look back on as well!

How do you keep the dust and fine clay particles down in your house? Do you ever get any lung issues from breathing it in? Do you use a mask?
